Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow

Maui Mallard box Everyone's favorite fowl-tempered flatfoot steps out in search of the mysterious Mojo Idol in this six-stage side-scroller. Crisp graphics and good play control give this pak a bill up on the opposition.

The action kicks off with the private eye poking about Mojo Mansion, an eerie abode crawling with bugs, ghosts and a mechanical monkey, not to mention a giant pipe-organ infested with vermin. Subsequent stages have Maui flexing his martial-arts smarts on the Ninja Training Ground, quarreling with the primitive inhabitants of Maui's bug gunMuddrake Mayhem, and even bungee jumping. This action game has a strong maze element, plus Maui gets to master some nifty ninja moves.

The richly detailed stages are based on Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow for the Super NES. Novel power-ups include Yin-Yang energy boosts and beetles for Maui's bug gun. Play control might even be a bit better than the Super NES game, although Maui tends to drift a bit when he jumps. Well, no one ever said ducks were the most graceful of birds!

In Mojo Mansion Bottom line: Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow is a solid action game that merits a look-see by fans who missed the Super NES version.
